Massive shake-up at Bantu

BANTU have embarked on a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2026/27 season, confirming a raft of new signings and departures as they seek to strengthen their squad for a renewed Vodacom Premier League title challenge.

After finishing third last season, A Matšo Matebele have moved swiftly in the transfer market, reinforcing every department of the team.

In goal, Bantu have signed Khotso Senatla from AC TIP to replace Motlatsi Sebapala, who recently joined reigning league champions, Lijabatho.

The club has also secured the signatures of former Kick4Life Juventude trio Lebeko Maoalosi, Hlompho Phalatsi and Thabo Khasane. The three joined as free agents after Kick4Life Juventude released their players following the club’s decision to decline promotion to the Premier League despite earning it by winning the A Division League.

Bantu have further strengthened their squad with the acquisition of midfielder Khaka Velapi from Linare, central defender Tšepo Makhanya from Lijabatho and winger Rethabile Mokhosi from Hunters Academy.

The rebuilding exercise has, however, come at the cost of several experienced players.

Defender Johannes Molapo, midfielder Sboniso Mahlangu and forwards Sabata Letlatsa and Leballo Falla have all left the club.

They join an expanding list of departures that includes defender Motlomelo Mkwanazi and goalkeeper Motlatsi Sebapala, who has completed his move to Lijabatho.

Also leaving the club are midfielders Katiso Silili, who has joined Matlama, ‘Melere Lebetsa and striker Moriana Moriana.

Bantu general manager Poosela Pule confirmed both the arrivals and departures, saying the club’s transfer business was not yet complete.

“I can confirm all these movements. However, as for the new signings, we still want to make a few more additions to further strengthen the squad,” Pule told the Lesotho Times yesterday.
