Michael Jordan Backs New Morehouse College Multimedia Center
Michael Jordan and his namesake Jordan Brand have put support behind a media center at Morehouse College for journalism and content creators.

If anyone knows how formidable the college years can be, legendary athlete Michael Jordan is definitely one with insight on the topic. His pre-NBA college career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill proved to be a generational run, from his ACC Freshman of the Year title and a game-winning shot in the 1982 NCAA Championship game to being named the greatest athlete in ACC history.
In his current position as a billionaire business mogul, MJ decided to show his appreciation for higher learning by putting financial backing by way of his namesake Jordan Brand into a new multimedia center at the prestigious Morehouse College.

The official Morehouse Multimedia Center had its grand opening on Wednesday (September 23), complete with a proper ribbon-cutting ceremony to launch the program. The main objective is to provide a creative space for aspiring journalists and content creators to elevate their skills in the areas of digital storytelling, sports broadcasting, podcasting, filmmaking and emerging media technology. The Center comes complete with a range of professional equipment at their disposal, and will even be taught on how to use it by way of professional content creators.
As mentioned in the social post seen above, Jordan Brand initially donated a cool $1 million to Morehouse back in 2021 with hopes that it would boost journalism and sports-related studies. This led to the HBCU officially launching its journalism major in 2022, which has not only benefitted the students but also made way for faculty to digitize their research for broader exposure.
Spearheaded by Center Director Professor Emani R. Saucier, The Morehouse Multimedia Center is already generating award-winning content by way of on-campus newspaper, The Maroon Tiger.
