Destiny is calling for John Creasy. Netflix has officially released the first trailer for Man on Fire, a brand-new series adaptation of the classic action-thriller. Stepping into the iconic role previously immortalized by Denzel Washington, Emmy-winning actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II brings some serious heat, promising an emotionally charged and action-packed performance as the deeply traumatized Special Forces veteran.

Created by showrunner Kyle Killen, the new series introduces audiences to a very different John Creasy. When the show kicks off, the former badass is living as a bearded recluse in a quiet warehouse, struggling with inner demons after a botched military operation left him afraid to open up or be vulnerable.

His isolation is abruptly interrupted by the arrival of his old friend, Paul Rayburn (played by Bobby Cannavale). Rayburn offers Creasy a path back to the real world, and the damaged veteran reluctantly agrees to head to Brazil with him. However, things take a devastating turn when a mysterious group of bombers levels a skyscraper in an unimaginable tragedy.

When Rayburn’s teenage daughter, Poe (Billie Boullet), witnesses the horrific crime, Creasy is violently thrust back into action. His new mission is twofold: brutally hunt down the men responsible for the bombing, and fiercely protect the young girl at all costs.

The trailer teases an absolutely massive scale of action that will keep adrenaline junkies on the edge of their seats. From visceral fistfights and an intense prison break sequence to a jaw-dropping stunt where Creasy leaps from a moving car onto an airplane, a sequence that reportedly took Abdul-Mateen a full month to prepare for, the series is not holding back.

Man on Fire is officially set to make its global streaming debut on Netflix on April 30.
