THE Conservative Party of BC’s Leadership Election Organizing Committee (LEOC) announced on Saturday that it has concluded its application process for the leadership election contest. Nine contestants have been approved to participate in the next phase of the race:

  • Bruce Banman
  • Harman Bhangu
  • Iain Black
  • Caroline Elliott
  • Kerry-Lynne Findlay
  • Yuri Fulmer
  • Warren Hamm
  • Darrell Jones
  • Peter Milobar

The new leader will be announced on May 30 at the Leadership Convention.

How the voting works:

  • One member, one vote
  • Preferential (ranked) ballot if there are 3 or more candidates
  • Voting is conducted through a secure online system
  • Members must verify their identity before voting.

A candidate must win more than 50% of the total province-wide points to be elected leader.

  • Each riding is worth 100 points; except ridings with less than 100 votes are allocated points equal to the number of ballots received
  • Points are allocated proportionally based on votes in each riding
