Welcome to the July 2026 edition of Nomad Africa.
With this issue, we’re thrilled to take you on a journey across the continent – from Morocco to South Africa, from Dakar to Mombasa – in a jubilant celebration of the feminine lens.
It all starts with a powerful cover image from South African visual artist Zana Masombuka, also known as the Ndebele Superhero, whose work moves through ancestry, dreams, and imagination as a spiritual practice. Our cover story, starting on page 20, takes an in-depth look at Masombuka’s craft and inspiration – and features more of her gorgeous photography.
This issue also features a powerful guest perspective from Judy Kepher-Gona, a prominent voice on tourism in Kenya and across the continent, as well as the latest round of our beloved Hot Shots series, featuring compelling images from Mali, the Maasai Mara, and the Kenyan coast.
For our features in this issue, we invite you to come along with me us set off on an overland journey from Nairobi to Johannesburg, then dive into the vibrant art and fashion world of Senegal’s vibrant capital city. Finally, sit down with us as we get to know a conservation wunderkind who’s representing Africa – and African youth – on the global stage.
Finally, in this issue you’ll find new sections for books to read and women-owned businesses we know you’ll want to add to your must-see list. There’s also a new dedicated space for the young nomad in all of us.
We sincerely hope you’ll be able to get your hands on a print issue of this July 2026 edition. (If you can’t track one down, drop us a line and we’ll see what we can do!). Otherwise, you can check out the full issue in PDF form right here, or read each of the stories at the links included in the text above.
However you enjoy the issue, we wish you a fun and immersive ride.
Happy exploring!
