The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has handed down tough sanctions to Kano Pillars after crowd trouble and other incidents during their recent league clash against Rivers United.
In a statement released by the league authorities, Kano Pillars were fined ₦15 million for breaches linked to the match, as the NPFL moved to reinforce discipline and maintain professionalism across the domestic topflight.
Beyond the financial penalty, the four-time league champions have also been ordered to play their next three home matches without fans in attendance.

The punishment will begin immediately, with Pillars set to serve the ban during their final home fixture of the current campaign.
The remaining two closed-door matches will carry over into the opening stages of next season.
The NPFL said the measures reflect its determination to preserve order, safety, and the integrity of the competition.
League officials also warned that any future misconduct by clubs or supporters could attract even harsher consequences.
The decision is a major setback for Kano Pillars, who have traditionally enjoyed strong backing from their home supporters at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Playing without fans could have a significant impact on the team’s atmosphere and competitive edge.
The sanctions also send a clear message to all clubs that the league will not tolerate actions capable of damaging its image or disrupting matchday operations.
Kano Pillars are yet to officially respond to the ruling.
