Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Omah Lay has joined forces with multi-platinum rapper Gunna for a new collaboration titled “Back to Lagos,” featured on the newly released deluxe edition of his sophomore album, Clarity of Mind Extended.
Released via Sire Records and Warner Records, the extended project adds four previously unreleased tracks to Omah Lay’s acclaimed Clarity of Mind album, further exploring themes of fame, ambition, spirituality, identity, and the search for inner peace.
On “Back to Lagos,” Omah Lay reflects on his journey to success, looking back at his experiences with fame and the personal cost of achieving the dreams he once pursued. The record is built around ominous basslines, atmospheric guitar arrangements, and haunting choral elements, creating an introspective backdrop for his reflections. Gunna complements the Nigerian singer’s melodic delivery with his distinctive flow and measured perspective, adding another dimension to the collaboration.
Beyond the Gunna-assisted track, Clarity of Mind Extended introduces three additional songs that expand the album’s musical direction. These include “Take,” featuring French rap sensation Tiakola, a record exploring the idea of moving beyond material distractions; “Keep Going,” an uplifting offering built around understated dance rhythms; and “Holy Ghost Fire,” produced by Lekaa Beats, which presents a stripped-back interpretation of the album’s spiritual themes through keys, guitar, and violin.
The extended edition arrives following an impressive run for the original Clarity of Mind album, which marked a significant chapter in Omah Lay’s artistic development. The project placed 12 songs simultaneously on Billboard’s U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, earning him a personal best, while also debuting at No. 8 on the World Albums chart and No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Top Albums debut chart.
The album also followed his 2026 GRAMMY nomination alongside Davido for their collaboration “With You” and marked his first full-length project since 2022’s Boy Alone, the album that further established his international presence.
At the heart of Clarity of Mind is Omah Lay’s exploration of the contradictions of human experience. Throughout the project, he moves between spiritual awakening and earthly temptation, vulnerability and ambition, and moments of personal peace and emotional uncertainty.
One of the project’s central records, “I Am,” stands out as a hypnotic, affirmation-driven track that explores the relationship between self-confidence and inner conflict. Also produced by Lekaa Beats, the song continues the pair’s creative partnership. Other notable releases include “Holy Ghost,” “Waist” and “Don’t Love Me,” the latter receiving a special performance through COLORS.
The album’s visual world is further explored through the music videos for “Artificial Happiness” and “Canada Breeze,” both of which complement its wider themes of self-discovery and emotional complexity.
With more than 3.8 billion Spotify streams and an expanding catalogue of international collaborations, Omah Lay continues to push beyond conventional Afrobeats boundaries, incorporating alternative, electronic, and Afro-fusion influences into his sound.
Now featuring collaborations with Gunna and Tiakola, Clarity of Mind Extended adds another dimension to his evolving artistic journey, giving listeners more insight into an artist navigating the relationship between global success, personal growth, and finding peace within himself.
