By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): For many Belizeans, filling up a vehicle is becoming more painful by the day, and the latest fuel prices are only making matters worse.

With regular gasoline now sitting at $14.83 per gallon in Belize City, many workers are being forced to spend nearly three hours of wages just to afford a single gallon of fuel.

For someone earning minimum wage, one gallon of gasoline now represents a major portion of a day’s earnings before rent, food, electricity, transportation and other bills are even considered.

The latest fuel adjustment saw regular gasoline jump by a staggering $1.32 overnight, while premium gasoline oddly became cheaper than regular fuel. Though diesel and kerosene prices dropped, many Belizeans say the relief is not enough as transportation costs continue rising across the country.

Motorists are once again questioning how long ordinary working-class Belizeans can continue surviving under the increasing pressure of fuel prices and the high cost of living.
