Orlando Pirates transfer news: Matuludi, Mashiloane, Mmolai, Shalulile

Orlando Pirates are short of recognised right-backs following the departures of Lebitso and Shandu, but will they sign Matuludi?

Orlando Pirates could strengthen their right-back department if they succeed in signing Polokwane City defender Thabang Matuludi during the current transfer window.

The Buccaneers have already parted ways with Thabiso Lebitso and Bandile Shandu, leaving Deano van Rooyen as the club’s only recognised right-back.

While Kamogelo Sebelebele is capable of operating in the position, he has primarily featured as a winger throughout his career.

With limited options on the right side of defence, Pirates may be forced to reconsider the future of Tshepo Mashiloane, who spent last season on loan at Sekhukhune United.

Orlando Pirates to decide on Mashiloane

According to the Siya crew, the Buccaneers have yet to make a final decision on Mashiloane’s future, with the outcome likely to depend on the club’s transfer activity before the window closes.

Matuludi remains Pirates’ top target at right-back. Should a move for the Polokwane City defender fail to materialise, Mashiloane’s chances of remaining at the Soweto giants could increase significantly, according to Soccer Laduma.

Reports have also suggested that Pirates have secured the services of Matome Mmolai, although the club has yet to officially confirm the signing.

So far, the Buccaneers have confirmed the arrivals of Sibangeni Zulu, Neo Rapoo, Mthetheli Mthiyane, Bohlale Ngwato and Ghampani Lungu as they continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new season.

With the transfer window still open, Orlando Pirates are expected to remain active in the market as they look to bolster their squad for another campaign challenging on multiple fronts.

Many Bucs feel the Buccaneers should sign a top striker and with Peter Shalulile set to leave Mamelodi Sundowns, the Soweto giants could pounce.
