In the latest episode of “Raising Kanan,” Kanan’s rage for Raq results in a major loss no one saw coming. Here are the highlights for “By Blood.”

The Thomas family suffers a great loss.

The episode begins with the continuation of Kanan telling Raq she is responsible for the people he loved dying. Before he can shoot her, her security guard, Ruben, comes in with his gun pointed at Kanan. In response, Lou quickly pushes him away before he can shoot Kanan, and Kanan accidentally shoots Lou.

Raq sobs as she watches the life fade away in her baby brother’s eyes. She tells Kanan to leave. Ruben takes her to a junkyard to drop off Lou’s body. She can’t believe he’s gone.

Ruben later tells Raq he had no intent to shoot Kanan; he only wanted to distract him. Raq kills him to make sure no one will ever find out that Kanan killed Lou.

She has an emotional breakdown when she notices a blood stain she missed from Lou inside her home.

Marvin finds out his baby brother is no more.

The next morning, Juke asks Marvin if he’s spoken to Lou or Kanan. Last time she spoke to Kanan, he was really angry with Raq, and he had plans to confront her. Lou said he would drive to Raq’s place to check on them. So it’s concerning that she hasn’t heard from either of them. Before Marvin can put two and two together, there’s a knock on the door. Police ask Marvin if Louis Thomas is his brother.

Marvin goes to identify Lou’s body. He breaks down in the car after Juke questions if it was Lou. Juke weeps as she consoles Marvin.

When he goes to Raq to tell her about Lou’s demise, she pretends this is news to her. Raq says Lou never made it to her home despite his telling Juke he would drop by to check on Raq and Kanan.

Marvin questions why Raq isn’t crying. Raq takes offense and says everyone handles pain differently.

Marvin suspects Unique is behind it all. He wants to get even by killing Pernessa and Unique’s son. Raq tells him that Lou and B-Rilla had Pernessa and Unique’s son tied up inside a mall that Unique owns.

Meanwhile, Unique and his crew locate Pernessa and his son. They were being held at gunpoint by B-Rilla. B-Rilla is gunned down.

Marvin makes it to the mall and discovers B-Rilla’s corpse. Pernessa and the child are gone. He trashes the place.

Breeze convinces Kanan and Unique to make money together.

Detective Garcia once again tries to ask Juke about Howard while investigating his death. She refuses to talk, and he decides it may be a better idea to go after Iesha instead.

Kanan and Unique are both low on drugs and agree to work with Breeze to keep their drug operations alive. Kanan sees firsthand how ruthless Breeze is when he demands that a boxing match turn deadly.

Stefano survived being stabbed in the gut by Russo. He jokes that his privates saved his life and urges his associates to take out Russo.

Pernessa tells Unique she loves him, but it’s too dangerous for him to stay in the drug game. If he must stay in that life, it would be best for her and their child to relocate for their safety.

Unique voices his concerns about working with Kanan to Breeze. He had nothing to do with Lou’s death but he knows he will be blamed for it. So Raq and her crew will be coming for him.

Breeze doesn’t think Unique needs to be concerned about anything since Kanan made no mention of Lou to him the last time they spoke.

Marvin struggles to speak at Lou’s funeral. He curses and promises to take out whoever killed Lou.

Raq glares at Kanan while the service goes on. Once they are outside, she tells Kanan she is done with him, and he’s never had an enemy like her. Kanan thinks Raq has been his enemy throughout his life.
