‘Raising Kanan’ Recap: Marvin Finds out the Truth

In the latest episode of “Raising Kanan,” Raq tells Marvin the truth about Lou’s death as things worsen between her and Kanan. Here is the recap for “School of War.”

Kanan and Stefano discuss Raq.

The episode begins with the continuation of Raq and Marvin’s conversation. Marvin knows they are now officially at war with Stefano since the men they hired to take him out failed. He’s worried all of this is really bad timing for their business, especially since Flossie is concerned their drugs are bad now that a client/judge died.

Raq encourages Marvin to use his charm with Flossie to smooth things over. She also tells him that it was Kanan who set up the overdose. But she wants Marvin to sit tight until they figure out how to deal with Kanan and Stefano.

Kanan has a sit-down with Stefano after Raq’s hit on him failed. Stefano says he plans to hit back and Kanan says he has no problem with this. He is done with Raq, and he and Stefano are on the same side.

Amber tells Marvin that she has concerns.

Pino asks Raq if she put a hit out on Stefano, and she denies doing so. He tells her she has “big balls,” and her response is that she doesn’t have big balls, just a lot of heart.

Jukebox tells Marvin she wants to start selling drugs so she can make enough money to keep Detective Garcia in her pocket. He reluctantly agrees to her selling Raq’s drugs to come up with the cash she promised Garcia.

Marvin takes his goddaughter Amber out for ice cream. She tells him she likes her new foster family a lot. However, police have been talking to her again, and they don’t believe the story Marvin told her to tell them about a white man with tattoos killing her abusive foster parents.

Marvin assures Amber that the police are only trying to scare her, and all she has to do is stick to the story they agreed to.

Breeze explains his background to Kanan.

Pino pays Stefano a visit at his home. He tells Stefano that Raq denied being behind the hit. Stefano doesn’t believe this. He says the now-deceased shooter told him it was Raq before his men took him out. Regardless, Pino says Raq and Stefano’s beef has nothing to do with him. But if Stefano comes for Raq at this point, he will have to answer to Pino.

Kanan asks Breeze about his connection to Snaps and Pop. Snaps is the brother to Breeze’s mom. Breeze and his mother have the last name of the man who married his mother after DefCon went to prison. Snaps believes Raq set up DefCon to take over his drug business. So Snaps and Pop hate Raq because they believe she is responsible for DefCon’s demise.

Marvin visits Flossie to calm her nerves. He assures her that Raq’s drugs aren’t fatal and there won’t be more fatalities.

When Marvin asks how Flossie’s daughter Shira passed away, Flossie says her daughter’s boyfriend at the time was driving drunk. He crashed into a truck and Shira was killed instantly. When the boyfriend got a slap on the wrist thanks to his parents’ connections, Flossie took it upon herself to push him in front of an oncoming train.

Stefano meets with Breeze and demands that he destroy Raq’s drug business, so Pino will withdraw his protection.

Raq and Kanan are officially at war.

Marvin goes with Juke to pay Garcia. She wants to know who killed Famous. Garcia tells her that the cops rumored to have taken out Famous are small timers who only do shake downs. They don’t murder people.

Pino tells Raq about his recent conversation with Stefano. He knows Stefano will eventually come for him and he’ll be ready. However, he’s more concerned about Kanan working with Stefano and how dangerous that is for Raq. He urges Raq to do something about Kanan.

Stefano speaks with Flossie in hopes that she will stop working with Raq since he was close to Flossie’s deceased father, to no avail.

Joaquin and his men go to an underground fight club. Breeze kills them, essentially killing off Raq’s drug supply. Kanan is the getaway driver.

Raq has Marvin and a couple of their soldiers snatch up Primo, one of Kanan’s delivery boys.

Marvin learns the truth.

Jukebox visits Kanan to tell him that Raq’s dirty cops didn’t kill Famous. He doesn’t care and gets ready to leave once he gets a call about Primo’s disappearance.

Primo begs to be freed and tells Raq that he doesn’t know anything. Raq kills him and tells a frustrated Marvin that it was Kanan who killed Lou.

While Jukebox is at Kanan’s, Marvin knocks and punches Kanan in the face as soon as he opens the door. He beats up Kanan something serious as Jukebox begs him to stop. In response, Marvin tells Juke that it was Kanan who killed Lou. And he’s about to die just like his delivery boy. Juke is able to convince Marvin to leave with her instead of pulling the trigger.

In the voiceover, the older Kanan says that Marvin gave him a butt-kicking he would never forget, and he will get his revenge.
