Residents urged to protect public infrastructure

DODOMA: RESIDENTS of Chang’ombe Ward in Dodoma have been urged to protect and properly maintain public infrastructure, to ensure it continues delivering essential services and benefits to current and future generations.

The call was made by Dodoma City Deputy Mayor Bakari Fundikira after inspecting government funded development projects in Chang’ombe Ward.

He said the government has continued to invest heavily in projects aimed at improving social services and enhancing the welfare of citizens, making it the responsibility of every resident to safeguard the facilities.

“Every citizen has a duty to protect and maintain these investments. During our visit, we inspected the construction of Kishoka, Chang’ombe Juu and Hamvu street offices, a water well at Chang’ombe Primary School as well as the mother and Child Ward at Chang’ombe Health Centre,” Mr Fundikira said.

He said the projects were financed by the government at a cost of 456.93m/-.

“Everyone should become a custodian of this progress by protecting these facilities and ensuring they are used for their intended purpose so they continue benefiting citizens for many years,” he added.

Mr Fundikira said close cooperation between citizens and the government is essential to safeguard public investments and maximise their long-term impact.

Chang’ombe Ward Executive Officer Hussein Kabezi thanked the government for implementing the projects, saying they have significantly improved service delivery and accelerated the ward’s development.

“These projects have greatly improved services to residents and we will continue working closely with the community to protect the infrastructure from vandalism,” Mr Kabezi said.
