SA government to sign new five year partnership with the UN
The framework aims to accelerate economic growth, reduce inequality, support sustainable development
The South African government and the United Nations are set to sign a new five-year cooperation framework aimed at accelerating economic growth, reducing inequality and supporting sustainable development.
The agreement will guide collaboration through to 2030. The cooperation framework aligns the work of the United Nations with South Africa’s national development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Over the next five years, the partnership will focus on creating jobs, strengthening healthcare and education, improving governance, tackling gender-based violence, supporting climate resilience and expanding opportunities for young people, women and small businesses.
Government says the framework is designed to help ensure that development reaches the country’s most vulnerable communities while strengthening partnerships with civil society and the private sector.”
