SCOTTLAND FC coach Norman Mapeza says he is anticipating a tough match against Dynamos in the Castle Challenge Cup match scheduled for this Sunday at Rufaro Stadium.
The two sides’ meeting will curtain-raise the 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, which is billed to kick off next week.
Scottland FC is playing in the tournament on the merit of winning the 2025 Premier Soccer League (PSL), while Dynamos earned the other spot after winning the Chibuku Super Cup.
Dembare will be playing in the tournament for the third time in a row. Last year, they defeated Simba Bhora to lift the trophy.
“Football is all about competition, but look, it’s never easy to play Dynamos. They look like a very competitive team, but all I can say is that we are ready for it.
“From what I have seen at training, it looks like we are all set,” said Mapeza.
Scottland FC was one of the busiest teams during pre-season, as they signed a number of key players, including the 2025 Soccer Star of the Year first runner-up Emmanuel Ziocha.
On the other hand, all eyes will be on Dynamos, who seem to have had a poor pre-season.
Dembare is led by coach Genesis Mangombe, who is marking his return to the club since parting ways in 2024.
The Harare giants suffered a 1-0 defeat early this month against old rivals Highlanders in the Jairos Jiri Charity Cup played at Barbourfields Stadium in Bulawayo.
