Mbale Heroes fought gallantly to earn a point over Soltilo Bright Stars during the 1-all draw on match day 22 of the 2025/26 FUFA Big League at the lake-side Maroons stadium, Luzira on Easter Sunday.

The hosts had a brilliant start to the game, with numerous raids to the opposition.

The attacks handsomely paid off when forward Ronald Bithum Nsumbiano tapped home from close range after a decent cut back from Luwalo Kippa in the 19th minute.

Mbale Heroes remained fighting and despite losing forward Akram Muzanyi through injury, they managed to get the equalizer with 12 minutes to play.

Abraham Okello scored a penalty past goalkeeper Aslam Muhindo.

Muhindo had brought down David William Omary in the forbidden area.

Consequently, Muhindo was also cautioned for the foul committed.

The visitors would have easily smiled home with maximum points but  Gerald Hamya’s first touch denied him inside the goal area.

This was the fourth draw for Mbale Heroes who have now accumulated 19 points in 22 matches.

Solitlo Bright Stars is 9th with 28 points.

FUFA Big League table standings after match day 22

During the next match day, Mbale Heroes will play host to Kaaro Karungi on Sunday, 12th April 2026 at the Mbale city stadium.

On the same day, Soltilo Bright Stars makes the long trek to West Nile region to face Onduparaka at the Ababet GreenLight stadium in Arua city.

Meanwhile, Kigezi Home Boyz Football Club returned to the top of the 16-team table standings.

Christened as the Gorillas; Kigezi Home Boyz edged Nebbi Central 2-1 at the Kigezi Al-Madina stadium in Kabale district.

Secondary season transfer signings Henry Kitegenyi and Dominic Abonga scored the goals for the hosts who are coached by Sadiq Sempigi.

Kigezi Home Boyz now has 42 points, three better than second placed Blacks Power who lost 0-1 on the road to Ntugasaze at Kavumba Recreational stadium.

Ntugasaze scored through Isaac Kiberu in the 52nd minute, climbing to third position with 37 points.

In fourth place is Kataka who won at home over CATDA 2-0 at the Mbale  City stadium.

Kataka now has 37 points, five away from the leaders.

Paidha Black Angels dropped to fifth place after the 1-all draw with Kaaro Karungi at the Kyamatte playground in Ntungamo.

Wakiso Giants eased their relegation brave fight with a 2-1 home win over Iganga United at the Hamz stadium (Nakivubo war memorial grounds).

The Purple Sharks now has 26 points, as Iganga United remains on 25 points.

Elsewhere, Bunyaruguru United humbled Young Elephants 3-0 at the Nyamambuka playground.

They are at home against 8th placed Nebbi Central (currently on 28 points) at the Kigezi Al Madina stadium in Kabale district.

FUFA Big League match day 22 results

Kiyinda Boys hammered Onduparaka 3-0 at Bethelem in the one-sided duel.

Julius Muzerwa opened the scoring business two minutes to the half hour mark.

Veteran Frank Kalanda and Michael Kimera each added the other in the 69th and 72nd minutes respectively.

Kiyinda Boys climbed to 6th position with 32 points, ten off the leaders Kigezi Home Boyz.

The top four clubs will earn direct promotional slots to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

In the same vein, the bottom four shall be relegated down to the respective regional leagues.

FUFA competitions department directly handles and supervises the FUFA Big League.
