Ssekabuuza returns to Gomba Ssaza to accomplish the unfinished business ahead of 2026 Buganda Masaza cup

The old school adage “East or West, Home is best” is a reality for Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza, a very experienced football coach as far as the Buganda Masaza Cup tournament is concerned.

The CAF “B” licensed tactician was born and raised in Gomba Ssaza and has served the team on different occasions.

He returns to steer the technical docket as head coach for the 2026 season of the Buganda Masaza football competition.

“I am happy to return home” Ssekabuuza who won the trophy last season with Buweekula remarked.

“Serving the home people is total joy for the heart. I am excited to return and cannot await to get started” Ssekabuuza added after he was confirmed by the chairperson Jane Namatovu.

Formidable backroom:

He will work with Davis Nnono Ssozi and Alex Kizito as assistant and first assistant coaches respectively.

Lawrence Ndugga is the team trainer and Reagan Lule the goalkeepin coach.

Alex Ssebweye is the performance analyst and Joseph Nyanja the statistican.

Oscar Mutebile will serve as team doctor, assisted by Julius Ddingilo. The others include; Nicholas Amanya (kits manager), Ivan Kasenge (camp manager) and Ronnie Kagimu as the assistant camp manager.

Ssekabuuza was at Gomba during the 2020 season as they won their 5th title and recently when they lost in the final.

Christened as the Lions”, Gomba has won the Masaza cup tournament a record most times, five. The first title came in 2004.

The subsequent titles were won in 2009, 2014, 2017 and lately 2020.

The championship is expected to kick off in June 2026.
