*Recently, best-selling author and popular podcaster Tim Ross sat down with EURweb’s longtime contributor Ricardo A. Hazell regarding his upcoming book “The Missing Peace.”
Born in Inglewood, California, Ross has gone from a law enforcement officer to a preacher to the Pastor of his own congregation in Irving, Texas.
During our conversation, Ross spoke freely and fluidly about the inspiration behind his new book, why he feels the world needs it today, and the negative effects that can occur when we use “dirty” language to describe things we want to be perceived as holy. Yes, this and much more from Ross, who sees himself as a disruptor in a world that is steeped in divisive absolutisms.
On His Mission
“I have reached more people, in the last three and a half years, with this podcast, this book, and these resources, than I did in 27 years preaching in the pews,” Ross told EURweb. “That fruit is my indication that this is the direction God wanted me to go in.”
“As a result, we have been able to reach people who have been on the fringes. Who have been disenfranchised, who have Church hurt, who have disconnected from-not God, but the way they practice their faith.”
“I don’t think anybody has ever deconstructed God,” he continued. “He cannot be deconstructed. What we’re deconstructing is what we were taught about God, the way we were told how God responds to us, and vice-versa.”
“As we deconstruct that, we get a sense of who God really is. And what the faith walk is really supposed to be like. I’ve dealt with it. At first, I was very frustrated by it. I’ve been UNDERSTOOD the entire time I was in ministry, and to be misunderstood for the past four years has been frustrating and disappointing. Ultimately, Jesus was misunderstood as well. I have to remember that I am His disciple, not theirs.”
