*Tyga is expanding his career into film, taking on his first leading role in the upcoming drama “Baby, You’re a Star.”
According to Deadline, the project marks a significant step for the multi-platinum artist, who is also credited as a co-writer and producer on the film alongside Curtis Bryant. Set in 1989, the story centers on a young artist striving to rise above the constraints of his surroundings. As he pursues his ambitions, the character grapples with themes of identity, romance, and creative expression. The narrative positions itself as a coming-of-age journey shaped by both personal and artistic challenges.
Joining Tyga on screen are Madison Bailey and Ashton Sanders, who take on key roles in the film. The cast also features Apollonia, Clifton Powell, Patrick Cage, David Alan Grier, and Mike Epps. Production is currently underway in Portland.
The film is directed by Arrad Rahgoshay, who is making his feature-length debut after a career in music videos. Brian Sher, Eric Tomosunas, and Tyga share producing duties, bringing together a team with varied experience across the entertainment industry.
Tyga’s breakout moment came with “Rack City,” a chart-dominating single that climbed to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned multi-platinum certification. The song’s success helped push his debut album “Careless World: Rise of the Last King” into the Top 5 of the Billboard 200.
Over the years, Tyga has built an extensive catalog that includes albums like “Hotel California” and “The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty,” accumulating billions of streams worldwide. With his music career firmly established, he is now setting his sights on a new creative frontier — storytelling on screen.
