Two arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition in the Cape Flats
Two suspects were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition in separate incidents on the Cape Flats.
Police spokesperson, FC Van Wyk says officers confiscated a shotgun and multiple rounds of ammunition at a premises in Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain.
A 35-year-old suspect was arrested. He also faces additional charges of two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder in a case reported earlier this month.
Van Wyk says the second suspect was arrested in Bonteheuwel.
“The members were deployed in the Bishop Lavis area, when they followed up on information received of two suspects walking around with firearms in their possession in the vicinity of Bramble and Bracken Streets in Bonteheuwel.
“They immediately followed up on the information and patrolled the vicinity enquiring about them. Further information led them to an address at Brisbane Street. Upon arrival at the premises the members found the two individuals and found the one suspect sitting on top of the firearm on the bed. After conducting a thorough search members found a 9mm short pistol with 12 rounds of ammunition,” Van Wyk explains.
