When Walukuba Barbarians host KOBs on Saturday, it shall be the start of what’s expected to be a tumultuous time for the Jinja-based club.
The game against KOBs shall be the last home fixture for Walukuba, as they have to go away to Heathens and Pirates to conclude their regular season schedule.
However, this shouldn’t cause any worries for the Walukuba faithful as the closest chaser, the Jinja Hippos, are 11 points behind them.
Should Walukuba finish 8th once again, this will be the 3rd season in a row that they qualify for the quarterfinal as the lowest-ranked side. Therefore, it is important for Walukuba to pick as many lessons as possible when they host the KOBs, because now the target has shifted to getting into the semifinal for the first time.
On the other hand, the KOBs have been ruthless against sides below them on the table. In the Mileke Shield, KOBs annihilated Warriors 57-3 to gain a bonus point and extend their points difference to 195 points.
Against Walukuba, KOBs will be looking for another large margin as they look to climb from the 3rd position ahead of the playoffs.
Whether the KOBs rest a few key players or go all out, Walukuba won’t go down easily, especially with the return of players like Edward Emiemu.
