By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 34-year-old Euphrates Avenue woman is out on bail after pleading guilty to one of two crack pipe charges brought against her in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.
Kahline Thurton, a domestic of #12 Euphrates Avenue, appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Neeshad Mohammed in Court #7, where she was read two counts of possession of utensils used for smoking a controlled drug.
Police say Thurton was found with two silver metal pipes on separate occasions: one measuring 8 3/4 centimeters in length on Saturday, May 23, and another measuring 2 1/3 inches in length on Monday, May 25.
In court, Thurton pleaded guilty to the first charge but denied the second, telling the court, “I plead not guilty to that because that was not a pipe. That was not a pipe,” while shaking her head in disagreement.
For the guilty plea, Thurton was fined $300 plus a $5 cost of court, which she must pay by July 9, 2026, or face three months in prison.
For the second charge, Thurton was offered bail in the sum of $800 plus one surety of the same amount, which she met.
She is due back in court on July 20, 2026.
