South Wales police referred the death of Mohamud Mohammed Hassan after he was arrested following a claimed disturbance in the city to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which launched an investigation to be concluded. Along with this following interaction with the police, Moyied Bashir, died in hospital on Wednesday, February 17. Gwent Police said: "Officers attended a property on Maesglas Crescent in Newport at approximately 9am on February 17 following concerns for the welfare of an individual after an emergency call was generated from the address". Moyied's family had called for help due to a mental health break down. That day the family lost a loved one and this is being investigated with no justice served several months later.
