By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A man is facing a drug charge after being stopped and searched by police during a patrol in Orange Walk Town.
According to the Belize Police Department, on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at around 3:45 p.m., officers on mobile patrol along Progress Street had their attention drawn to a man. Police approached, identified themselves, and informed him that a search would be conducted for illegal drugs, firearms, or ammunition.
During the search, officers said they asked the man to open his left hand, revealing a small folded piece of paper. When opened, police reported finding four pieces of a white substance suspected to be crack cocaine. He was informed of the offence, cautioned, advised of his constitutional rights, and placed under arrest.
At the Orange Walk Police Station, the man was identified as 37-year-old Dario Ezequiel Camara, a construction worker of San Pablo Village, Orange Walk District. Police said the suspected drugs were weighed at 0.9 grams, then sealed and labelled as evidence.
Police subsequently charged Camara with possession of controlled drugs. He chose to remain silent.
