The post Among Neighbors in Poland: Violence and Silence after the Holocaust with Anita Friedman, Yoav Potash and Nadine Epstein appeared first on Moment Magazine.
Among Neighbors tells a little-known and deeply unsettling chapter of postwar history: the violence that persisted in Poland even after the Holocaust ended. Through rare testimony, archival research and exquisite animation, the harrowing stories are revealed of Yaacov Goldstein, a Holocaust survivor, and Pelagia Radecka, an eyewitness to the aftermath.
Award-winning filmmaker Yoav Potash, director of Among Neighbors and Executive Producer Dr. Anita Friedman, whose family is also featured in the film, reflect on the decade-long journey to uncover the story of Gniewoszów, Poland and the secrets kept by its residence. They also address the backlash the film has received from Poland’s political extremists and historical revisionists, and what that response reveals about the ongoing struggle over memory and truth.
