Friends and family were joined by official representatives in celebrating the 102nd birthday of “cherished centenarian” Molly Kydd Hodge.
The Anguilla Social Security Board (ASSB) described the occasion as a “truly inspiring milestone”, adding that the much-loved community member is the island’s oldest pensioner.
Members of the board presented Mrs Hodge with a personalised birthday card and a cheque on 20 May “in token of our love and appreciation”.

In a Facebook post the board said it was to celebrate her “remarkable life of strength, resilience, wisdom and grace”.
“On behalf of the ASSB board, management, and staff, we extend heartfelt birthday wishes for continued blessings, good health, happiness and peace,” it continued.
“May her special day be filled with love, joy and treasured moments with family and friends.”
Governor Julia Crouch also visited Mrs Hodge on her birthday to extend her well wishes.
According to a TRUE Anguilla article published just before her 100th birthday, Mrs Hodge was born in 1924 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
She was born to an Anguillian mother, Emmeline Gertrude Roges, and a father from Bequia, Ernest Ferdinand Kydd. The eldest of five children, she was their only daughter.
Her early life included time in New London, Connecticut, where her father worked as a deep-sea fisherman.
She visited Anguilla in 1948, fulfilling a promise to her grandfather, and eventually settled on the island.
Her story is marked by resilience, community involvement and a strong connection to her Anguillian heritage.
