Ania Finnemore is a quiet giver whose big heart and dedication leave everyone she helps in a better place than she found them.
Northriding, South Africa (09 April 2026) – Volunteering is about giving, not necessarily in great abundance, but from the heart to help another. Whether it is a meal, a moment of time, or warm clothing to ward off the cold, the essence of volunteering is to recognise the need in someone else, meet them where they are, and leave them in a better place than they were before.
As Beanies for Beings puts it: “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”
A quote that perfectly describes one incredible lady who has blessed this charity beyond measure, helping in every way she can: Ania Finnemore.
“Ania Finnemore gives so selflessly of her time in so many ways, for a multitude of causes, and her boys are following closely in her footsteps. Ania never wants recognition, but this lady sure does deserve a shout-out,” Beanies for Beings shared.
Beanies for Beings runs various projects, including offering opportunities for students to earn community service hours – an initiative Ania runs like a well-oiled machine, coordinating charity drives, receiving collections, delivering them and creating and issuing certificates to students.
“Over and above that, Ania has held workshops teaching students to make beanies, which then get donated to us, and somewhere in her day, Ania still manages to knit blankets for us.”
And this isn’t even the full list of her good deeds! Ania does so much for others, and her two boys are following close behind in her footsteps, having swum the Midmar Mile to raise funds for CANSA recently.

Recognition has never been the objective for Ania, but Good Things Guy will always do its bit to shine a little light on the helpers and hope-dealers. We got in touch with her, and she shared a little about her heart for giving.
“My journey into volunteering started many years ago when my family and I raised 11 guide dog puppies. I’ve always felt that anyone can help in some way. Volunteering for me is about giving time. A kind word, a smile, someone taking the time to actually hear you is often worth more than we think. I’m thankful to all the parents who have trusted me to help their youngsters find ways to earn community hours and help others.”
Ania, your commitment to serving and supporting others in need, whatever that need may be, is nothing short of amazing. You’re a living reminder of the good that exists in this world!
