Billy Joel’s ‘Piano Man’ Rides ‘The Boys’ Synch to Top TV Songs Chart No. 1
The ‘70s classic was heard in the series finale.
A close race on Billboard’s May 2026 Top TV Songs chart, powered by Tunefind (a Songtradr company), ends with Billy Joel’s “Piano Man” from Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys at No. 1.
Rankings for the Top TV Songs chart are based on song and show data provided by Tunefind and ranked using a formula blending that data with sales and streaming information tracked by Luminate during the corresponding period of May 2026.
“Piano Man” enjoyed a synch in the eighth episode of The Boys’ fifth season, which was also its series finale, in a scene that helped conclude the show’s seven-year run. It earned 19.1 million official U.S. streams and sold 1,000 downloads in May 2026 en route to its No. 1 bow, according to Luminate.
Those metrics (plus its Tunefind-specific engagement metrics) are a tick better than those of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” which was heard in the 10th episode of Apple TV+’s For All Mankind’s fifth season. Its May 2026 consumption: 20.9 million streams and 1,000 downloads.
“Piano Man” was Joel’s breakthrough on the Billboard Hot 100 in its time, peaking at No. 25 in 1974. “Blinding Lights” enjoyed four weeks at No. 1 in 2020.
Both The Boys and For All Mankind are represented on the Top TV Songs chart by more than just “Piano Man” and “Blinding Lights.” The Boys also appears at No. 4 via Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” from the season’s sixth episode (19.3 million streams, 1,000 downloads), and For All Mankind has Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” at No. 8 (episode seven; 12 million streams, 1,000 downloads).
