After weeks of intense negotiations, Andrew Mbeba has finally committed to Highlanders, signing a new three-year contract with the club on Thursday evening.

The new deal will keep the highly rated utility defender at the Bulawayo giants until 2028.

Mbeba’s contract renewal brings an end to nearly two months of negotiations between the player and the club.

According to a source within the Highlanders camp, the club moved quickly on Thursday evening to finalise the agreement following media reports suggesting that Dynamos closing in on signing the player.

Earlier on Thursday, Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe confirmed that his club had opened talks with Mbeba and expressed his interest in bringing the versatile defender to Dembare.

Although full details of the new contract have not been made public, NewZimbabwe.com understands that Bosso eventually agreed to the player’s key demand, which was for the club to either purchase him a house in one of Bulawayo’s high-density suburbs or pay him US$25,000.

Meanwhile, Mbeba is expected to be available for selection when Highlanders face Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday in their second league match of the season.
