Bullets hidden in the wall: police clear another stash spot

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police searching an abandoned house in Trial Farm Village have uncovered a dozen rounds of 9mm ammunition concealed inside an electrical box cemented into the wall, the second hidden ammunition cache cleared in the Orange Walk District in under two weeks.

According to the Belize Police Department, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, between 12:00 and 12:30 p.m., police personnel conducted a search of an abandoned house and lot in the Trial Farm area.

During the search of the house, an officer discovered a transparent bag containing a black box bearing the markings of a handgun ammunition brand, hidden inside an electrical box cemented into the wall. Further inspection of the box revealed twelve gold-coloured 9mm rounds.

No one was in the immediate area at the time of the discovery, and the ammunition was taken to the Trial Farm Police Station, where it was labelled and sealed as found property.

No arrests have been made, and the matter remains under police attention.

The find follows the discovery of 27 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a magazine, and suspected cannabis hidden under a sponge at an abandoned house on the Palmar Road just two weeks ago, and comes amid heightened attention on the 9mm calibre, which featured in the recent drive-by shooting on San Antonio Road. Police have drawn no connection between the found ammunition and any incident, but the pattern of live rounds stashed in the district’s empty buildings continues to concern.
