The annual Fieldshill Water Athletic Club fun run returns this Youth Day with a focus on fitness, youth empowerment and giving back to the community.
Chatsworth, South Africa (20 May 2026) – This Youth Day, the streets of Chatsworth are set to trade winter chills for running shoes, community spirit and plenty of good vibes.
The Fieldshill Water Athletic Club has officially announced the return of its annual 5km Fun Run and Walk, bringing together families, runners, walkers and local supporters for a morning built around movement, togetherness and giving back.
Taking place on 16 June 2026 at the Kharwastan Secondary School Grounds, this year’s event carries the theme “Take It In Our Stride”, and organisers are hoping the community does exactly that.
The race has become one of those neighbourhood moments where people from all walks of life come together. Some arrive chasing personal bests, others come for a relaxed stroll with family and friends, while many simply show up to be part of the atmosphere.
And this year, there is an even bigger focus on young people.
Club chairman Vikesh Parshad said the aim is not only to encourage healthier lifestyles, but also to create positive spaces where younger generations can connect.
“Our primary objective this year is twofold. We want to bring our beautiful community together to promote sustainable fitness habits, while simultaneously providing a constructive, empowering outlet for our youth to thrive.”
Beyond the finish line, the event is also about supporting causes close to the community’s heart.
Funds raised through the fun run will go toward organisations including Chatsworth Hospice and the Rotary High Noon Club, while another portion will help support the growth of grassroots athletics in the area.
Vice chairman Sagren Naidoo explained that the club wanted the event to have a lasting impact beyond race day itself.
“An athletic club cannot exist in isolation from the needs of its people.”
And in true community style, And in true community style, organisers are encouraging everyone to get involved.
