By Zoila Palma: Today, the Department of the Environment (DOE), in collaboration with the Department of Transport is conducting an awareness and waste collection initiative at the entrance of Belmopan.
As part of the activity, motorists were encouraged to dispose of their waste responsibly by handing over garbage from inside their vehicles, which was then collected by the team for proper disposal.
This forms part of the National Anti-Littering Campaign, which aims to address the growing issue of littering and plastic pollution.
“Too often, waste is thrown from vehicle windows, harming our environment, clogging drains, and diminishing the beauty of our communities.
Keeping Belize clean is a shared responsibility, and simple actions—like keeping a small bag in your vehicle for trash and disposing of it properly—can make a big difference,” DOE said.
DOE encourages all Belizeans to protect our environment and keep Belize beautiful for generations to come.
