Reality television personality, entrepreneur, and cosmetic dentist Heavenly Kimes has officially conceded in the Democratic primary race for Georgia’s 13th Congressional District after a closely watched and highly publicized campaign.
Known to millions through Bravo’s Married to Medicine, Kimes entered the political arena with a platform centered on economic opportunity, healthcare access, education, and community empowerment. Her candidacy drew significant attention not only because of her celebrity status, but also because she positioned herself as a political outsider determined to bring “real-world experience” into government.
Despite building strong name recognition and an energetic grassroots campaign, Kimes ultimately fell short against Georgia State Representative Jasmine Clark, who secured enough support to win the Democratic primary outright. According to election reporting, Clark captured more than half of the vote, avoiding a runoff election and moving forward as the Democratic nominee in one of Georgia’s heavily Democratic districts.

In a heartfelt concession message shared with supporters, Kimes reflected on the significance of the campaign beyond the final vote count. She thanked volunteers, donors, family members, and first-time voters who rallied behind her movement, emphasizing that the campaign represented something larger than politics alone. “We showed that everyday people still have a voice,” she said while encouraging supporters not to lose hope.
Kimes initially planned to run for the Georgia State House before shifting her focus to Congress after longtime Congressman David Scott became vulnerable amid growing calls for new leadership. Following Scott’s death earlier this year, the race transformed into one of the most competitive Democratic contests in metro Atlanta politics.
Throughout the campaign, Kimes leaned heavily into her background as a successful Black businesswoman and healthcare professional. Her supporters viewed her as a fresh voice capable of connecting with younger voters and working-class families. Critics, however, questioned whether reality television fame translated into political readiness, especially in a district with experienced lawmakers already in the race.
Still, political analysts noted that Kimes performed stronger than many initially expected. Internal polling earlier in the race showed her gaining traction with voters seeking candidates outside the traditional political establishment. Her campaign also demonstrated the growing influence celebrities and media personalities can have in modern political spaces, particularly through social media engagement and direct voter outreach.

While the loss marks the end of this congressional bid, Kimes made it clear she does not view the outcome as the end of her political future. “This is not over,” she told supporters after conceding.
Whether she returns to television full-time, continues political advocacy, or launches another campaign down the road, Dr. Heavenly Kimes has undeniably expanded her public profile beyond reality TV — stepping into a larger national conversation about representation, celebrity influence in politics, and the future of grassroots leadership in Georgia.
