Gabon Strengthens Cybersecurity Expertise Through MITRE Training Programme

Gabon is strengthening its national cybersecurity capabilities following the completion of a nine-month training programme focused on cyber threat detection, analysis and response.

The programme, which ran from January to September 2026, was delivered by MITRE experts for participants from the Agence Nationale des Infrastructures Numériques et des Fréquences (ANINF) and other government institutions. Certificates of participation were presented on September 10, 2026, marking the completion of the training.

The programme focused on the MITRE ATT&CK framework and Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI), combining methodological sessions with practical workshops. Participants were trained to assess attackers’ profiles, tactics and behaviour, identify traces left after systems are compromised, and reconstruct the progression of cyberattacks.

The training also strengthened participants’ ability to identify the tactics, techniques and procedures used by attackers in IT environments. ANINF said the skills gained will support stronger detection, investigation and response to cyber threats.

The certificates were presented by Alberto Mounguengui Moudoki, Managing Director of ANINF, and Denise Olsen, a cybersecurity expert and project manager at MITRE.

The initiative forms part of a broader cybersecurity partnership between Gabon and the United States, with technical support from MITRE. It is aimed at strengthening national cybersecurity and cyber defence capabilities while supporting Gabon’s efforts to improve digital sovereignty and protect critical infrastructure.

ANINF said the programme also contributes to the development of national cybersecurity expertise and the country’s wider digital transformation agenda.
