Kevin Hart Says Hartbeat Has Downsized, Denies Shutdown Rumors

Kevin Hart shared that his confirmed Hartbeat has downsized, but it is here to stay. When asked whether Hartbeat is still operating on The Breakfast Club, Hart said, “Hartbeat is never going anywhere.”

This came after reports from employees who told Bloomberg that Hart was absent from his company, leaving employees worried after layoffs. Hart has also changed his phone number since the layoffs that eliminated almost 25% of his workforce.

The current status of Hartbeat

Hart told The Breakfast Club that his company did downsize, saying, “My executive team is still there. My team of creatives are still there. Did I reduce? Yes. My company was too f-cking big.”

He continued: “I don’t need 80 people to operate how we’re operating now. Downsize. Save the money. Save the f-cking money. I got offices in New York, Atlanta. Why do I need all that? Why am I watching other businesses get smarter? Why is Netflix laying off people but Hartbeat’s f-cking maintaining the masses? Like it’s called operation operation cause. So when you’re thinking about a business, make the best decisions on behalf of the business.”

Layoffs at Hartbeat Studios

In January 2025, Hart became the CEO of his entertainment company, Hartbeat Productions. Two CEOs left the company within 15 months, while nearly 20 employees were dismissed during the same period. The CEO’s exits were due to differences of opinion over the company’s strategic direction. However, they left the company on good terms, as reported by Bloomberg.

Now, staff reported that Hart has vanished from the office and left the day-to-day delegations to longtime lieutenant Jeff Clanagan and CFO Eric Stoneburner.

There were further cuts to employees in podcasts and scripted TV, including executives involved in a “Barbershop” TV adaptation for Amazon and a second season of the animated series “Lil Kev.”
