Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Thando Thabethe developed an early passion for performance and media. She attended Mondeor High School before graduating from the University of Johannesburg with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting. While at university, she became involved in theatre productions and started her broadcasting journey at UJFM, where she worked as a news reader and later as a radio presenter, laying the foundation for her future media career.
Her acting breakthrough came through roles in South African television productions including Generations: The Legacy, Housekeepers, and My Perfect Family.
