The Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) has opened a mobile home at Okongo, bringing telecommunications services closer to residents of the town and surrounding communities.0

The outlet, which opened on Thursday, is MTC’S 40th retail store nationwide. It allows customers in the area to access services without travelling long distances.

Customers can access services including SIM card registration and replacement, contract applications, account payments and renewals, MTC Maris services and purchasing recharge vouchers and other products.

MTC spokesperson Erasmus Nekundi says residents have requested a permanent MTC presence at Okongo for a long time.

“We are pleased to have finally opened our new store,” he says.

Nekundi says the expansion formed part of MTC’s efforts to improve access to telecommunications services across Namibia.

Okongo resident Tangeni Shinedima welcomes the new outlet, saying it would reduce travel costs for residents who previously had to travel to Eehana for services.

The opening is part of MTC’s retail expansion plans, which include new outlets at Walvis Bay, Okuryangava, Omaruru, Otjinene and potentially Outjio.
