DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Police Force has said the country’s security situation remains stable, attributing the prevailing peace to strong cooperation between citizens, security agencies and other stakeholders.
Speaking today at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (Sabasaba), Police Force spokesperson David Misime said that despite the prevailing calm, the police are continuing to work closely with other security agencies to monitor indications that a small group of individuals is allegedly planning to disrupt public peace under the pretext of organizing demonstrations that do not comply with legal and security procedures.
He said some of the suspects have already been arrested, while investigations are ongoing to facilitate appropriate legal action.
According to Misime, investigations have established that some individuals are continuing to incite violence through social media platforms and online discussion forums. The suspects are alleged to be planning criminal activities, including attacks on government leaders and civilians, arson targeting schools, destruction and looting of public and private property, as well as attacks on security personnel with the intention of seizing firearms.

Misime said such incitement poses a threat to national security and violates the country’s laws. He warned that the Tanzania Police Force will take firm legal action against any individual or group found to be involved in such activities.
He also urged members of the public to refrain from engaging in criminal acts or misusing social media platforms. Misime noted that security agencies have intensified patrols and security operations across the country, particularly ahead of the Sabasaba celebrations and the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair at the Sabasaba Grounds, to ensure that members of the public can participate in the events and return home safely.
The police spokesperson further assured citizens that there is no cause for alarm, emphasizing that the country’s security agencies remain fully prepared and continue to work together to safeguard peace, stability and public safety nationwide.
He also called on the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by promptly reporting any signs of potential security threats or violations of the law, enabling the authorities to take timely and appropriate action.
