Actress Sonia Mbele is currently getting dragged online after music executive and controversial X user Nota Baloyi blasted her for allowing a Zimbabwean national to raise her children.

The drama kicked off after the “Blood and Water” star sat down for a candid chat on “The Ollah 7” podcast.

While reflecting on her days starring in “Generations”, Mbele gave a heartfelt shout-out to the woman who kept her household running while she was clocking 12-hour shifts on set.

Mbele explained: “My first house manager Jennifer, is/was from Zimbabwe. She was with me for years. Jennifer raised my children.

“Literally, Aunty Jennifer raised my children, and because you’ve been with somebody for that long, they raise your children. I even took her to a cooking school, Jennifer was a chef, she did a course for house management,” she said.

She added: “I was busy, I was on ‘Generations’ working 12-hour days, and I needed somebody I could trust, and I needed somebody that I knew could cook for my kids. So Jennifer was a house manager, her own supervisor, she was a chef, you know, she did it all.”

While many saw a story of a hardworking mother doing her best, Baloyi saw a reason to reach for his keyboard blowtorch.

He quickly slammed her on X, posting: “Raise your children because you’re an irresponsible mother … I would never say my maid raised me, she did her job and took instructions from the woman raising me!”

The comments section quickly turned into a battlefield.

Some users took Mbele to task over her parenting and hiring choices, with @FollowMakhi adding fuel to the fire by saying, “A South African could have done the same thing, that why her son is facing charges of rape. She was busy with foreigners instead of raising her son well.”

Another user, @DenisTlhabi, added: “Now it makes (sense) why her boy is the way he is, he had absent parents.”

However, others thought Baloyi was just being his usual controversial self.

@KganyaIsago rolled their eyes at the drama, commenting: “Lol, wena, you’re always complicating simple things lol.”

@CSShabz asked Baloyi: “Are you a mother?”
