Accra Hearts of Oak Senior board member Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has delivered a blunt assessment of the state of Ghanaian football, arguing that the declining standard of the domestic game is closely tied to leadership shortcomings at the country’s biggest clubs.
Speaking on the current direction of the local league, the outspoken administrator expressed concern over the quality of play and overall competitiveness.
“I have been monitoring our local league, and the standard of play remains very low,” he said.
He further stressed that the struggles faced by Ghana’s traditional powerhouses are not merely technical or tactical, but rooted in structural and administrative decisions.
“The challenges facing Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko are fundamentally a leadership responsibility,” Nyaho-Tamakloe added.
His comments come amid ongoing debates about the development and competitiveness of the Ghana Premier League, where concerns over infrastructure, player quality, and club management have repeatedly been raised by stakeholders.
As both Hearts of Oak and Kotoko continue to search for consistency on and off the pitch, Nyaho-Tamakloe’s remarks add to growing pressure on club leadership to implement reforms aimed at restoring the league’s former intensity and appeal.
