Newly appointed deputy minister of home affairs, immigration, safety and security Edward Wambo has pledged to deliver services that make a meaningful impact in citizens’ lives.

He says his commitment aligns with the sixth National Development Plan and Vision 2030.

In his introductory statement issued on Monday, Wambo says he is eager to learn, familiarise himself with the ministry’s operations, and build on the positive efforts already in place.

“Let us move forward as a team united in purpose, guided by professionalism, and driven by the shared goal of delivering services that are efficient, accessible and people-centred.

“As I transition into this role, I invite open collaboration and constructive engagement to drive continuous improvement and innovation in our service,” he says.

Wambo adds that he envisions himself as a champion of transformation, playing an active role in designing solutions that will advance the ministry’s vision.

Meanwhile, minister Lucia Iipumbu has expressed confidence in their working relationship, describing it as one that will be built on synergy, trust and transformative impact.

“We will complement each other’s strengths, lean on one another in times of challenge, and celebrate every victory together with the broader ministry. This is more than a working relationship; it is a bond of purpose rooted in love for our nation and a solemn promise to serve its people with integrity and excellence,” she says.

Iipumbu notes that the ministry’s responsibilities directly affect the daily lives of citizens and require practical, people-focused solutions.

She adds that Wambo’s track record, grassroots connection, and forward-looking approach are expected to enhance service delivery.
