The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force have confirmed the recovery of “one Black Glock 19 and 11 rounds of ammunition” on Thursday, November 20, as part of a stop and search of a vehicle with two occupants while on mobile patrol in La Croix Mingot. The search was carried out around 1:30 a.m. by officers from the Special Services Unit in Castries.
The two men were taken into custody and later identified as Melvin Montoute, 34, of St. Lawrence Street, Anse La Raye and Shaquille De Leon, 27, of Marigot.
Police confirmed that both individuals were charged with “Possession of a Firearm” and “Possession of Ammunition”.
On Friday, November 21, Montoute and De Leon were each granted bail in the First District Court in the sum of “$25,000 cash or suitable surety for the firearm charge” and “$10,000 cash or suitable surety for the ammunition charge”.
