By Zoila Palma: The San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council is hosting the 5th annual Cinco de Mayo this weekend.
Mayor Earl Trapp Jr. is inviting all residents of San Ignacio and Santa Elena for the 5 de Mayo- MAYO ALEGRE on May 15 and 16 2026 from 6 PM – 12 AM at Burns Avenue and the Welcome Center for a massive two-day event.
The celebration is expected to attract residents and visitors for a weekend of food, music, and cultural activities.
The council noted that the event serves an important cultural purpose, reflecting Belize’s close historical and social connections with Mexico.
