Fourth Quarter: All American Takes Its Final Snap at the Season 8 Premiere

Some stories entertain us. Others become part of our lives. Walking onto the Warner Bros. lot for the All American Season 8 premiere felt like stepping into television history. As we made our way through the legendary studio, we passed the soundstages that have housed some of the most iconic shows in entertainment. There was an undeniable energy in the air, one filled with excitement, nostalgia, and gratitude. Cast members embraced, cameras flashed, and fans eagerly anticipated one last journey with the series that has inspired audiences for nearly a decade.

By the time we arrived on the green carpet, it was clear this wasn’t just another premiere. It was a celebration of a legacy.

As someone who has covered countless red carpets, this one felt different. We were stepping inside the world of All American during what every football fan knows as the fourth quarter, the final stretch. And just like the game itself, it’s often in those final moments where the greatest stories are written.

Sheen had the opportunity to speak with the talented cast and creative team about what this final season means to them, the memories they’ll carry, and the impact they hope the series leaves behind. 

Osy Ikhile

One of the first familiar faces to stop by was Osy Ikhile, who portrays Coach Cassius.

Reflecting on his time with the series, he spoke about the importance of mentorship, leadership, and portraying a coach who helps shape young men both on and off the field. His passion for the role mirrored one of the show’s defining themes-that success isn’t measured solely by wins, but by the lives you influence.

The excitement continued with Nathaniel Logan McIntyre, who plays KJ. Wearing an infectious smile, he enjoyed reuniting with returning cast members while celebrating alongside the newest additions to the All American family. I jokingly coined the younger cast members “The Zentenials, “ and the nickname earned a few laughs on the carpet.

Of course, I couldn’t let Nathaniel leave without asking one fun question inspired by his appearance in this year’s highly anticipated Michael film. I asked him, Michael Jackson song?” Without missing a beat, he smiled and answered,

“What’s your favorite

“Off the Wall” It was a lighthearted moment that perfectly reflected the joy surrounding the evening.

Kareem Grimes

Longtime fan favorite Kareem Grimes, affectionately known as Preach, reflected on watching his character evolve over the years. His gratitude for the fans who have embraced Preach’s journey was evident as he discussed the relationships built both on and off screen.

Sheen also caught up with Alexis Chikaeze and Lauryn Hardy, who shared what it has meant to contribute to the final chapter of a series that has consistently championed authentic storytelling and meaningful representation.

One of the evening’s most memorable interviews came with creator and executive producerNkechi Okoro Carroll. As she reflected on eight incredible seasons, the emotion became impossible to hide. Looking back on the journey, the characters, and the family they created together, it was evident that All American has always been more than a television drama. It became a platform for stories rooted in resilience, hope, community, and purpose. Watching her become emotional while discussing the show’s remarkable run reminded everyone just how much heart has gone into every episode.

Another unforgettable moment came during my conversation with newcomer Antonio Bell. When I asked what has motivated him throughout this incredible opportunity, he motioned for a special someone to join him on the carpet! He then proudly introduced us to his “why”, his beautiful daughter. As he spoke about joining All American, gratitude filled every word. His emotional response served as a touching reminder that behind every actor is a personal story, a dream realized, and a family cheering them on every step of the way.

The green carpet also reunited fans with many of the series’ beloved originals, includingMichael Evans Behling, Greta Onieogou, Samantha Logan, Monet Mazur, Chelsea Tavares, Geffri Maya Hightower, and Mitchell Edwards. Watching the cast reconnect, laugh, and reminisce was a testament to the genuine friendships built throughout eight unforgettable seasons.

The celebration extended beyond the cast with celebrity sightings including Cory Hardrict and O’Shea Jackson Jr., who joined in honoring one of television’s most impactful dramas. Through victories and setbacks, the series has reminded viewers that the strongest people aren’t those who never fall, they’re the ones who continue getting back up.
