By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Police in San Pedro have charged a 21 year old man after he was allegedly caught riding a motorcycle without a valid driver’s licence.
According to police information, officers were conducting motorcycle patrol in the DFC area at around 1:15 a.m. on Friday, September 11, when they noticed a blue and black Honda motorcycle travelling toward a gas station.
Police signalled the rider to stop and requested his driver’s licence.
The rider reportedly told officers that he did not have the licence with him and that it was at his home, but admitted that it had expired.
Police identified the rider as Joshua Lopez, 21, a waiter from San Pedro Town.
Checks on the motorcycle reportedly showed that its insurance remained valid until October 30, 2026, while the motorcycle licence was also still valid.
Lopez was taken to the San Pedro Police Station and later formally arrested and charged with driving a motor vehicle without a valid Belize driver’s licence.
Police say he chose to remain silent after being cautioned.
