SP fields Reliance executive Dhanraj Nathwani as Rajya Sabha candidate from Uttar Pradesh
He is the son of Upper House MP Parimal Nathwani who was re-elected from Jharkhand as a National Democratic Alliance-backed independent in June.

The Samajwadi Party on Wednesday fielded Reliance Industries executive Dhanraj Nathwani as one of its two candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Dhanraj Nathwani is group president at the Mukesh Ambani-led conglomerate and a director at Reliance New Energy Limited and Reliance Projects and Property Management Services Limited, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He is the son of four-time Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani, who was re-elected from Jharkhand as a National Democratic Alliance-backed independent in June. Parimal Nathwani is also the director of corporate affairs at Reliance Industries.
Dhanraj Nathwani has been vice-president of the Gujarat Cricket Association since September 2019. He has previously held positions in the Jamnagar District Football Association and other institutions in Gujarat.
On Wednesday, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the party decided to connect with the industrial sector because several political parties have a presence in the corporate world.
“I am delighted that the Samajwadi Party has been given the opportunity to send a person from a new generation,” he said.
The party’s other candidate is Ram Gopal Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle and a Rajya Sabha member since 2008.
