The 28th St Kitts Music Festival opened on Thursday night with plenty of energy, nostalgia and a mix of Caribbean cultures.

A highlight of the night was soca superstar Machel Montano’s return to the festival stage after 15 years. He kept the crowd engaged throughout his hour-long set, mixing classic hits with newer songs like “Encore”. His performance celebrated both his legacy and growth in the music scene.

Shelly and the Signal Band brought the lively bouyon sound from Dominica to the festival.

V’ghn created another memorable moment when he left the stage to dance and connect with fans in the crowd while performing his hit “Jab Decisions”.

Veteran acts like Edwin Yearwood and Krosfyah Band made a big impression. With a history dating back to the festival’s first year 28 years ago, they hold a special place in its story. Their set took the crowd on a nostalgic ride with hits like “Sak Pasé” and covers of favourites like “Togetherness”. Both young and older fans enjoyed the music together.

The night wrapped up with soca artist Voice. The crowd stayed involved from start to finish, setting a strong tone for the rest of the festival.

The festival continues Friday night with another exciting lineup. Fans can look forward to performances from Mavado, Kranium, D’yani and Valiant.
