Actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish is adding “Sports Illustrated cover star” to her already stacked list of accomplishments. The comedian and actress is featured in the latest Sports Illustrated issue.
Haddish appears on the cover of the magazine’s special swimsuit edition that features women who are reshaping entertainment and culture.
“I wanted to follow in my grandmother’s footsteps of being a model, Haddish told E! News at a May 14 launch party in New York. “I feel like this is my way of honoring my grandmother and her legacy. So it’s a big deal for me.”
The Girls Trip star shared behind-the-scenes moments from the shoot on social media, thanking the publication for “seeing me, celebrating me, and letting me shine.”
“I’ve been wanting this since the 1900s,” Haddish said via Instagram. “When I used to run track and field, I wanted to be in Sports Illustrated for track and field. I thought I was gonna be Flo-Jo… I became a comedian, and I was like, oh, is my dream dead? But I still believed in it. So, here I am today. First comedian ever to be on the cover.”
