Trump Refuses to Sign Bipartisan Housing Bill

WASHINGTON (AURN News) — Today was the deadline, and President Donald Trump made his position clear. In a Truth Social post Friday morning, Trump said he would not sign the most significant bipartisan housing bill Congress has passed in decades.

The measure passed 358-32 in the House and 85-5 in the Senate. Trump said he was withholding his signature in protest until Congress passes the SAVE America Act. Under the Constitution, the bill became law without his signature because he neither signed nor vetoed it while Congress remained in session.

Trump has also turned on members of his own party, pressuring Republican senators to eliminate the filibuster so Congress can pass the SAVE America Act. In recent Truth Social posts, he warned lawmakers who oppose the measure of political consequences and called Republicans who refuse to act “very stupid.”

Home prices are up 54% since 2020. The median mortgage payment has nearly doubled. Nearly 59% of Black renters already spend 30% or more of their income on rent.
