A man from Vieux Fort has been charged in connection with the vehicle crash last October that killed 4-year-old Rikki Samuel.
Police say Clarence Vigier of Belle-Vue, Vieux Fort was arrested on Thursday, June 11 and later formally charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
After his court appearance, Vigier was granted bail set at EC$5,000. He can secure this amount with cash, land documents, or a suitable surety.
As part of his bail conditions, he must stay at his Belle-Vue home. His driver’s licence has been suspended pending the outcome of the matter.
The case is scheduled to continue on July 7, 2026.
The charge is related to a multi-vehicle crash on the Vieux Fort-Laborie Highway on October 25, 2025, near Hewanorra International Airport and the Marine Base. The accident killed Rikki and injured 11 others.
Rikki, who was in kindergarten, was travelling with his father, taxi driver Jonard Samuel, when their vehicle was involved in the collision.
