He acknowledged the responsibility linked to the organization of the event but insisted on the diplomatic nature of the discussions, refusing to go into details publicly due to the sensitivity of the case.

“We respect the sovereignty of both Senegal and Morocco. I completely agree when you say that these people were arrested in a stadium, during a competition we organized, so it is also our responsibility (…) These are diplomatic discussions to resolve this issue. It is an important matter for us. But, given its sensitivity, it is not a subject we can discuss publicly.” He specified that this matter is “particularly close to the heart” of CAF.
